“I am the way, the truth, and the life...” (John 14:6)
(Morpho-semantic markers) Starting from Christ’s statement “I am the way, the truth,
and the life...” (John 14:6), which has become a reference
point in theology, the author extends his linguistic
investigation to the entire text of the Gospel of John.
Linguistically (especially semantically), the terms in this
statement stand out clearly in context, forming a veritable
support structure for its meaning, both through the large
number of occurrences and through the efflorescence of the
meanings it develops. The three words by which Jesus defines
his personality – the way, the truth, and the life – indicate a
convergence of meanings. LIVIUS PETRU BERCEA |
