Ioan Lupaș – a Christian historiographer. Several theoretical and methodological references
The study proposed under the title Ioan Lupaș – a Christian historiographer. Several theoretical and methodological references is inspired by the fundamental work of this great Transylvanian historian, namely the Church History of the Transylvanian Romanians in 1918. The resurgence of the religious theme and the history of the church in the contemporary public and contemporary historiographical discourse in post-communist Romania require some theoretical and conceptual explanations presented in the first part of the study, namely how to define: the history of the church, the history of religion, the history of religious life and religious sentiment. These conceptual emissions are part of the debates and meditations of historians and sociologists about the location of the contemporary religious phenomenon and the relationship between Church, religion and society. The second part of the study, dedicated to the analysis of the church history of the Transylvanian Romanians, is a methodological and critical approach of the genesis of this work as well as the interpretation of the thematic structure of this synthesis of the Church history and of the religious life in Transylvania.
