The political and ecclesiastical context of Bishop Nicetas of Remesiana (366-414)

St. Nicetas of Remesiana held a fruitful pastoral-missionary activity in the south of the Danube, in the late fourth and early fifth century, in the diocese of Remesiana. He pastored in a very tumultuous period, when the whole West was politically destabilised due to the Visigoth invasion and the church was threatened by the heresies of Arius and Macedonia. During this time he maintained the Orthodox faith in his diocese, Remesiana. For all his merits, the Church brings gratitude and he can rightly be called "The Chrysostom of the Orthodoxy in the south of the Danube".
