Monasticism - imitation of Christ and the Apostles

In the article, the author tries to prove the origins of the evangelical Christian monasticism. The reason for this article is the anti-monastic atmosphere, of Protestant influence, prevalent to this day in some Greek theological enviromnments and not only. Starting from the very text of the New Testament and passing through the liturgical rites of monastic tonsure and many patristic texts, the author emphasizes the uninterrupted consciousness that the Church had on the New Testament origins of monasticism, on the fact that Jesus Christ our Savior together with His Apostles established a genuine "life in common", a primary "coenobium". Keywords: monk, anti-monastic attitude, the New Testament, monastic tonsure, Apostles
