"I, You, and He..." - Or about Relation as Mystery. The Neighbor and the Responsibility towards Him in the Thought of Dumitru Stăniloae. A Short Approach

One of the main characteristics of Dumitru Stăniloae`s thought is the (re)establishment of the theology of individual; of the rational anthropology; of the re-instatement of the beauty and the value - as well as of the provocation - of one man next to another. Based on the profound truth and great mystery of Trinity, this aspect asserts man`s open nature towards other personal realities, because the relation itself opens and creates bridges to other people, thus opening the individual to connections with the others and making him a person. The entire responsibility for the neighbor, but mainly for the injustice we do to him, is shown when we stop loving him, as remaining in a certain relation with him implies love. The love for the neighbor can`t be theoretical. This is where the theory ends and the action begins, an action that becomes "loving action". Father Dumitru Stăniloae often emphasized that God needs the man to make Him present in the world, to mediate Him, to make Him "transparent". But no other action can make God more transparent to the neighbor and to the world as the concrete love of the neighbor and the act of giving yourself away - which is found in the concrete aspect of this love - do. This is the message of father Dumitru Stăniloae, left to a world that seems to focus on its own opacity.
