This essay suggests a symbolic interpretation of the royal doors of the iconostasis in the Antim monastery church, in Bucharest. The royal doors at the Antim monastery are sculpted in linden wood and we may say that, through their vegetal nature, they represent the doors to the Heaven on Earth, whereas their ornaments and shapes suggest profound theological symbolism.
